Various translator coaches or wagons based on UK rolling stock.

12T Van (Peak Forest)

Adds a variant of the 12T van from Peak Forest with switchable couplers. It should appear in the free roam menu under 'Translator Vehicle' as 'Translator (12T)'.

TEA Tanker (Blackpool Branches)

Adds a variant of the TEA tanker from Blackpool Branches with switchable couplers. It should appear in the free roam menu under 'Translator Vehicle' as 'Translator (TEA)'.

BG Coaches

Various variants of BG coaches with switchable couplers. They appear in the free roam menu under 'Translator Vehicle'.

MJKCP_Translator_Mk1_BG_TTC.pak - Based on the TTC Mk1 BG Maroon coach.

  • It should work with livery designer (though you won't be able to download anything for it).
  • It should be able to couple to some things in formation designer, though not all (I'm not sure what controls what it can couple to).
  • The brakes will be off by default so you don't need to use the vacuum release chains.
  • Air brakes will not pass through the coach. If you have for example a TGK2, a translator, and then some normal coaches, the TGK2 will not be able to control the brakes of the coaches. You would need to couple another loco to the back of the normal coaches and use that to control the brakes.
  • Bug - It can sometimes cause formation designer to crash.
  • Bug - If you spawn a formation made in formation designer including it, the couplers will be graphically wrong. This can be fixed by just changing the coupler to something else and changing it back again.

MJKCP_Translator_Mk1_BG_TTC_Replacement.pak - Replaces the TTC Mk1 BG Maroon coach.

  • This one should allow you to use liveries from creators club on it.

MJKCP_Translator_Mk1_BG_PBO.pak - Based on the Mk1 BG coach from Blackpool Branches.

Coupler Options:

  1. Buckeye - default coupler, can couple to most things with Buckeye coupler, modded versions of some Tightlock trains.
  2. Tightlock - can couple to unmodded versions of most Tightlock trains.
  3. Screwlink - can couple to most things with screwlink coupler.
  4. Scharfenberg - such as Class 395, most German EMU's, ÖBB 4024, modded version of ICE 1, TGV, BR 642, and Class 801, anything in Coupler Mod - Dellner To Scharfenberg.
  5. Dellner - such as unmodded version of Class 375, 377, 387, 700, 710, ROG 37/7, modded version of Class 380 and Class 385.
  6. BSI - such as Class 142, 150 (CCN), 158, 170, modded version of 166.
  7. WABCO N-Type - such as M3, M3A, M7, M7A, M9.
  8. Wedgelock - such as 1938 Stock, 1972 Stock.
  9. SA3 - TGK2 by M_E_L_O_M_A_N.
  10. Shibata - not used yet.

The mod uses the coupler models from these trains:

  • ICE 1 from Kassel - Würzburg (Scharfenberg and Dellner coupler model).
  • Class 142 from Blackpool Branches (BSI coupler model).
  • M7 from Long Island Rail Road (WABCO coupler model).
  • 1972 Stock from Bakerloo Line (Wedgelock coupler model).
  • TGK2 mod (SA3 coupler model).

If you do not have the above the mod should still work, but there will be no coupler model.

Changelog

  • 2025/03/17 - Added TTC BG replacement version, updated Blackpool Branches BG version.

  • 2024/01/22 - Added TTC BG and Blackpool Branches BG version.

Notes

  • You may need to manually release the brakes on some trains being dragged.
  • They haven't been remodelled or retextured, I have just added various coupler options.
  • I haven't added any scenarios, timetables or formations, it is only for free roam mode.

Cool mod! You should make a version with german and american wagons too. (so that they are more realistic for the region)

Does the original tightlock work?

the only issue im having with this is because the coach isnt dual braked i cant use air brakes to release the brakes on the unit i couple to the translator coach, if it was possible to use a dual braked coach like the ones in BR Blue and Grey on NTP and Blackpool Branches then it would be much easier

Could you use Habbins for the German translator coach as they are very similar to the Habfis Railadventure uses?
Thanks a lot! I love your Work :)

Made a Habbiins version here https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c110-pc-editor-creations/i4176-barrier-vehicletranslator-coach-german, also working on a dual braked Mk1 coach and a USA version, although not sure what I will use for the USA version yet

Hello, is it possible that you can swap the buffers and couplings from the Mark 1s onto the Great Western Mark 3s, so it is possible to haul them about with, say, a Class 47 without needing a Mark 1 to translate the buckeye to hooks & chains on the loco

Example Image is a GWR Mark 3 BSO, probably could use the TGS as stand-in for that.

I second this! and be nice to get Mk3s in the free roam spawner, pain having to use god mode. Wish we could have the mk3s in livery editor too :(

My editor has stopped working at the moment, but if/when I get it working again I can do that. I'm not sure I know how to add a coupler that can swap between buckeye and hook though, so I might have to make a variant that only has hook coupler

@mjkcp cannot wait for you to do this!!!

Nearly finished I’ve got it working with switchable buckeyes/hooks from the ttc mk1 and with buffers (buffers will be visual only for time being till I’ve figured out how to make them “solid”

Is there a way of adding tail lamps to the coaches in game?

ive got a mod in testing now, a Mk3 TFD with a screw link and hook at the closed gangway end. brake pipes all connect and work properly. im struggling with buffers, the buffers on the rail vehicles in game are animated parts of the skeletal mesh rather than individual components like couplings that can be swapped out. i did manage to put some very crude ones on as a test and they worked in game visually but no matter what collisions i put on them locos just go right through them.
for the time veing i will put together a mod pack with both ends of the mk3 set with screw links with a generous coupling threshold so you dont need to get perfect coupling seperation without buffers as a guide.

How would you re-livery them? Would be nice for them in arlington fleet or standard barrier coach blue

Could an update be made with the SA3 coupler from the TGK2? Then the loco could be used for light passenger work

When Vectron and Mk1 BG Coaches (Dual braked version) are connected, with Scharfenberg, Dellner, WABCO N-Type, the red brake hose of Mk1 is not connected, so the brake cannot be released.
