Metrolink January 2025 Timetables AVL and SBD 0.5 (Weekend only, for now...)

This pacakge currently provides two new timetables based on the most recent January 2025 Metrolink timetables. Currently these are both weekend timetables, one for the Antelope Valley line and one for the San Bernardino line.

All timetables are featured in the one pak file provided.

All the timetables make use of the San Bernardino stock for all Metrolink operations, so the MP36 will be available for all Antelope Valley line services. This also means that Conductor mode is available on the Antelope Valley line services featured in this timetable.

Almost all Metrolink trains as of January 2025 operate with 5 car consits, the rule that only allowed 4 car consits through Soledad canyon has seemingly been lifted and 5 car trains are the norm now for Lancaster runs.

Both weekend timetables feature full Metrolink operations on all lines, although most services are AI only.

All of these timetables feature full dependency links in regards to terminal and yard operations. Basically the signalling on these routes allows for trains to get a restricted signal into an occupied platform in almost any scenario. This can cause problems in timetable mode if trains are running late, say in Lancaster a following train could be cleared into the station before the train in front is able to reverse and enter the siding track, thus causing the timetable to deadlock. These timetables are setup with dependency links between services such that no trains will be dispatched into a terminating platform or siding until the train before it has cleared into a double track area or siding, thus preventing deadlocks from happening even if significantly late running were to occur.

Trains are also setup to have dispatch beyond through all sidings and stations unless a meet is occuring or when approaching a busy terminal area such as Los Angeles or San Bernardino. This allows more favorable signal aspects unless a meet is actively taking place. The meets at intermediate sidings are not fully linked however, so if late running does occur meets are able to take place at other sidings as needed.

On the weekends there are four Metrolink equipment sets that make two round trips each, all of which are based out of the EMF in San Bernardino. There are also four Antelope Valley sets on weekends, each working several round trips, three sets are bsaed out of Lancaster, and one set of the CMF in Los Angeles.

A full Amtrak Surfliner layer is also included using Amfleet coaches and Metroliner cab cars from New York - Trenton, and Metrolink F125s. This is no where near perfect but it is the best we have at the moment, and allows for more diversity in services, but are AI only due to the nature of this setup. This is an optional layer and Trenton is not needed to run the base Metrolink services. Amtrak long distance services are planned out but not included since there is nowhere near any appropriate rolling stock for these, though if / when that changes they will be added.

The Antelope timetable features a basic Union Pacific AI layer in the Lancaster area, requiring just Sherman Hill to activate. The San Berardino timetable features a basic BNSF layer in the San Bernardino area, requiring just Cajon Pass to activate. I plan on significantly expanding the freight operations on both of these timetables, especially to provide several full length UP runs on the Antelope Valley line in the emtpy slots between passenger runs.

The San Bernardino line timetable features a full Arrow layer, using the DB BR 642 from the Maintalbahn. While the real service operates using a Stadler FLIRT DMUs, no deisel Stadler products are available in game, but the 642 fits the platforms and loading gauge almost perfectly. There are two drivable Arrow services between their Maitenance facility in San Bernardino and the San Bernardino Downtown station, but all other services are AI only.

I am currently working on weekday timetables for both the Antelope Valley and San Bernardino lines, which are both now significantly busier than the default in game timetables. San Bernardino espeically runs between 30 and 60 minute headways all day now, as compared to 120 minutes at the time the default timetable in game is set. When these are done they will be added to this mod package along with more improvements to the weekend timetable.

It is highly recommended that you have my expanded station directory and PIS mod that is linked below. Most AI Metrolink and Amtrak trains make use of the added stations. The four digit weekend train numbers will also not display properly on the coach PIS systems without this mod.

My F125 physics mod is not required but may provide a better operating experience with this locomotive, especially in places like Lang siding which is now used for Antelope Valley meets, and has steep grades coupled with low speed limits that require finer throttle control.

Requirements

Not required but recommended for a better F125 driving experience.

This mod is highly recommended as the expanded station directories are needed for much of the additional Metrolink trains. The PIS update for the rolling stock is also essential for the correct display of the new four digit weekend train numbers.

Train Sim World® 5: Antelope Valley Line: Los Angeles - Lancaster Route Add-On on Steam

Required for AVL timetable, SBD timetable will function without.

Train Sim World® 5: Northeast Corridor: New York - Trenton on Steam

Only needed for the Amtrak Surfliner layers on both routes.

have done 1 whole service LA-SB - it works trouble free (also seen several AI)
if you build in to the future even more AI (also on sidings) it can be a GREAT timetable.
thank you

I love the mod so far! The only thing I have to complain about really is the objective markers at each station on the AVL, since I noticed they were placed incorrectly for the amount of cars they had. (Ex: 5+1 car train, the train would stop at the 5 marker instead of the 6 marker since Metrolink doesn't count the locomotive as a car). I'm not sure if that can even be fixed but oh well. Other than that, the mod runs perfectly! :)
