Alongside the addition of the Levenmouth branch line, the latest update to Fife Circle completely overhauled the destination displays on the Class 170/4 included in the route. While this improved the PIS very significantly, there were still various areas where further improvement was necessary.
This mod makes numerous changes to the PIS visuals of the Class 170 to enhance the experience further and alleviate some of the issues Rivet left behind when they released the update. Changes include a full re-write of the text displayed on the internal PIS screen to match the syntax and phrasing of the real life Class 170s and adjusting size and position of the text to also be more realistic. The mod also incrases the brightness of all PIS screens in the train to make them more realistic and more easily readable during the day.
A comprehensive list of changes can be found below:
- Increases the brightness of all PIS screens as per reality to make them more readable in the day
- Adjusts the position and size of the text on the interior displays
- Complete re-write of text displayed on interior PIS using real-world references:
- Service destination
- Calling at stations along the route
- Next station
- Safety information notice

Thanks so much for putting this together! It looks a lot better and readable compared to the original version by Rivet which was too small and hard to read! Great job!
A couple of things I'll point out, it seems to glitch a bit where it'll just reset before finishing the whole message in some carriages. I wonder if the actual typeface/font itself could be something to look into as well for extra realism?
I also wonder if the unit numbers can be fixed as well to match the real life units i.e. 170425-434 and 170450-452? 170401-415 in game are for the older 170 models which Rivet screwed up there.
With that aside, fantastic work and thank you for putting this together!
That would require to remodel the unit which is more effort than it's worth.
Rivet have to make some things difficult, don't they?
Well that's not really Rivet's fault. It was never intended to be easy.
I'll have a look at the text cutting off, a few things that can cause that so I'll check where the problem is there, most likely is fixable as long as I can reproduce it.
To confirm - you mean that the numbers that are on the units in game are wrong for the model depicted and that changing the numbers to 425-434 and 450-452 would fix that? If so then that's an easy fix.
Excellent, thank you. Also the PIS screen colour in the middle carriage don't quite match the ones in the front and rear which are more accurate.
Yes that's correct, the newer ScotRail 170's which is the model in game are 425-434 and 450-452. Again, it would depend on how complex it is to fix.

This is great! Do you plan on perhaps doing the same for the SR Class 150? The internal PIS for that train is a little odd tbh
Thanks! I assume you mean the Class 158 as ScotRail don't run the Class 150? I wasn't planning on touching that but am happy to have a look, what's bothering you about it?
Oops yeah I mean the 158 haha
The internal PIS on the 158 says something along the lines of ‘This is Edinburgh Waverley where this train will terminate’ and the wording there seems a little odd imo, there’s also no ‘calling at’, it only says what the next station is and passenger safety info.
It’s all very nitpicky but it would just be great having it be consistent with the 170 :)
Yeah I'll have a look at the phrasing there, something's not right there
