This pack provides OpenRails track profiles for ScaleRail by 3DTrains to be used for superelevation and/or dynamic track on routes using ScaleRail. Unlike previous versions of ScaleRail track profiles, V4 uses the new multiple track profiles feature so that these track profiles are compatible with all types of ScaleRail shapes; wood ties, concrete ties, modern concrete ties, wood bridges, concrete bridges, and open deck bridges regardless of the texture format used. Each track profile has been meticulously crafted from scratch to match the shape and texture mapping of the original ScaleRail track sections down to the nearest millimeter for a seamless experience. And LODs are included to reduce framerate impact.
Credit for all ScaleRail graphics goes to 3DTrains, this is merely a recreation of the original made to take advantage of new simulator features, and would not have been possible without the past work of the 3DTrains team.
Requirements
These track profiles work best with features not present in OpenRails stable 1.5.1, for full functionality one of the following versions should be used:
- OpenRails Stable 1.6 (coming soon) or later
- OpenRails Testing T1.5.1-1393 or later
- OR NewYear MG 159 or later
Obviously, you must have a route that uses ScaleRail for these track profiles to work as intended. This pack has been tested on these routes:
- Feather River Canyon
- La Salle Rockford & Central
- ScaleRail Rattlesnake Desert
- Mullan Pass
- SP Shasta
- Full Bucket Line V4
- And other ScaleRail routes should work too
Requirements

Search File ID - TrainSim.Com
TrainSim.ComInstallation Instructions
- Unzip the included .zip file somewhere you will remember.
- Locate the ROUTE subfolder for the route(s) with ScaleRail.
- If the route doesn't already have a ROUTES/routename/TRACKPROFILES folder, create a folder called "TRACKPROFILES" in the route directory (no quotes, case does not matter).
- Copy the .stf files included in the .zip to the ROUTES/routename/TRACKPROFILES folder.
- If running OpenRails V1.5.1 or earlier, find the "TrProfile.stf" file in the "Legacy Profile" folder included in the .zip, and copy this to the ROUTES/routename/TRACKPROFILES folder.
WARNING: You may already have an older TrProfile.stf file, in which case you may wish to back up the existing file before replacing it with this version.
NOTE: If running a newer version of OR, any existing TrProfile.stf should be deleted or replaced with the included legacy profile to reduce potential track mismatches. - If the route uses the "modern" version of ScaleRail, find the "TrProfileSRc.stf" file in the "Modern Concrete Profile" folder included in the .zip, and copy this to the ROUTES/routename/TRACKPROFILES folder, overwriting the original TrProfileSRc.stf file.
NOTE: The modern version of ScaleRail features concrete ties that have a depressed center. This usually isn't used, so in most cases this step can be skipped. - New profiles are now installed. To verify functionality, enable superelevation in the OpenRails options, load the route(s) with ScaleRail, and observe the appearance of curved track. Superelevation should be present (where appropriate) and the appearance of curves should match the original track nearly perfectly.
Additional Comments
- These track profiles work with both .ace and .dds textures
- Tunnels are not supported by OpenRails dynamic track, so no tunnel track profiles are included
- Many routes do not have a fully configured superelevation system, which may lead to aesthetically unpleasing track generation
- All track profiles contained in this package are free to redistribute with other projects that use ScaleRail, both freeware and payware

If you have installed your routes correctly, you will already have ScaleRail installed. Otherwise, the base package can be downloaded here.
