CSX D799

During the nascent years of CSX Transportation, D799 was a local operating out of Hagerstown Maryland. This turn job would often work as far as Highfield where it would handle the interchange traffic with the Maryland Midland.

The year is 1994 and the days of CSX's GP30M are becoming numbered. Two of these veteran units have been assigned to the D799. Today's D799 has several empty cement hoppers destined for the Lehigh Portland Cement Company in Union Bridge. Also onboard to be interchanged are loaded centerbeam cars for the NVR Building Products plant in Thurmont. Finally, there are loaded tank cars destined for a liquid gas terminal in Taneytown. In addition to your consist, the D795, the Hanover - Hagerstown local, will be dropping off its coal load at Highfield which will be delivered to the Union Bridge cement plant.

The Dutch Line can be unforgiving so stay vigilant. In this era, the Hanover Sub was also DTC track warrant territory so listen carefully to the dispatcher.
