This timetable has been in production since November. I was inspired by one of my old spotting books from 1998.
Post privatization era timetables / scenarios have by and large been overlooked, even in TS Classic there isn’t an abundance of timetables.
I’ve created by myself from scratch and has taken a lot of time to master the intricacies is UE4 editor.
Where possible it is modelled on the actual passenger and freight timings, but with AI it’s never going to be perfect.
My biggest hurdle was getting the livery’s into the game from the creators club.
** Yes it is possible to import livery’s from Creators club!** (I will be posting about this in next few days)
For me this era was the most interesting time on Britain’s railways, the livery mixes (painting the class 31’s reverse engineering the model was a nightmare!) , the loco classes (I’ve still got to add more) and the main thing , NO CLASS 66s (YEY!)
I hope you enjoy a taste of 1998.
Known issues:
On first start up after install, the HST and Class 37s don’t have a picture in the game menu, the loco’s work fine and after the first run the icons re-appear.
Can’t spawn on foot, it just defaults back to the normal game, don’t’ know why, not a real priority.
I can’t get the 31’s&47’s to be player drivable with a user created livery….still working on that
I’ve turned off all checkpoints for the freights as personally I find them distracting, obey the signals!
Obviously there isn’t any 56’s, 58’s, 89, 91, 156’s, 144’s, 308’s, 321’s models available (yet), so I’ve done the best I can with the assets available,
in 1998 GNER only had left 9 HST sets on there books.
Timming's as I say is best the I could do, with 598 paths to juggle with, I haven’t tested every path from start to end, but hopefully they all drive as they should, if you have any issues, drop a message
Hopefully I can take a few days off from simulating this timetable, as it currently takes 2h35 to run!!
For those of us who were around spotting the late 90s, I hope it brings back some fond memories.
I suggest running 4L85 for your first trip, you’ll get the idea what it’s all about.
Lastly many thanks to everyone who created livery’s in the creators club / trainsim community that I’ve used, too many to mention, all of your efforts are greatly appreciated and I hope I’ve done your creations justice, if you want me to credit you drop me a message.

Is the Midland Mainline necessary? I saw some photos of the class 158
Yes midlands is a required DLC
absolutely love this and would be beyond amazing with a 91 and valenta HST, maybe one day.
have noticed that the GNER HSTs don't keep first class at the London end like they would have, editor limitation or need a lot of rework?
Also found that 1D38 has a very long wait at Doncaster and may be blocking southbound traffic (unsure of pathing but had 2x 150s and a 37 stopped north of Doncaster).
Thanks for you kind comment ,I'll check that over the weekend , the that is that way round because after 4 months of trying to get the livery to work I was so excited, I really wasn't bothered which way round it was. As for the wait time , I suspect it's to do with the AI handover , I can see v1.02 coming out soon at this rate.....thanks once again
I've adjusted the hat sets and altered the AI times, I'll upload over the weekend
This sounds like a really interesting timetable but whichever schedule I choose there's no departure time shown in the top left of the screen (there's nothing in the top left HUD at all), and the signal at the platform end just remains at red forever. It's as if I've just spawned a train in free roam but not set it up with a route to anywhere. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, please? Thanks.
have you got all the required DLCs? Donny - PBO for the route. GWR for the HST's, Leeds Man for the 47's, Darlington for the 37s?
Yes, I have all of those.
i will review all dependency's and get back to you .
Dependancys are:
Manchester Victoria - Leeds for 47s
Darlington - Saltburn for 37s / 20s
Great Western Express - for HSTs
Midland Main Line - for 158s
West Cornwall Local - Class 37s / 150's AI traffic
Southeastern High Speed - AI Traffic, 365's
BR Heavy Freight Pack - Static traffic fill
hope that helps!
Thank you. I have all of those, but I’m still experiencing the same problem. I’ll do some more messing about and try see if I can offer any more clues. I’d love to get it working as this is an era I’m much more interested in than the one in which DTG’s timetable is set.
A little more information - hopefully it's of some use. When I select a schedule and the run has loaded up, the top left element of the HUD does appear very briefly - for about a third of a second (unfortunately not long enough for me to read it, but it definitely appears) before disappearing. When I look at the "9" map there is a route in place to the destination, but the starter signal doesn't clear.
I found one schedule today where the starter signal did clear. This was 1M78 14:03 Low Fell - Wilsden TPO. At the start point the information in the top left disappeared before I could read it as usual, but this time the starter signal was green. I therefore set off to see what would happen, and everything seemed to work fine. I got stopped in a loop and the message in the top left appeared "Wait until 17:29:00" and didn't disappear until 17:29:00. The run was really interesting (lots of passing GNER HSTs, which was great!) The only slight oddity was that the line speed (as shown on the speed v distance graph) fluctuated between 60mph and 75mph without any lineside signs indicating such a speed change. Sometimes the changes were indicated on the HUD, and sometimes not. I'm not sure how that would be affected by the timetable though so maybe it's a core route issue - I've never driven a 47 on ECML before!
ill have a look at that, there's still some times to sort out, the route speed is determined by the DTG build, so can't change that, but will check the timings out., thanks for the feedback!
Currently working on the next update......
Any update on getting liveries in from Creators' Club?
Oh yeah I need to compile an "how do" manual for this , I'll get on this , this week
Thanks! Where will it be published?
ill post it on dovetail creators club PC editor forum, ill post a link here when its up
i've uploaded a PDF on how to import, let's see if it gets published
As requested, basic instructions https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c109-other/i4982-creators-club-livery-importing-to-pc-editor-instructions
Another couple of things that i've noticed is that some AI trains (150 and 365 possibly others) are reversing instead of changing ends.
Most stopping points are half way down the platform, leaving around half of the train outside of stations.
Regarding the HUD, i've only noticed it on freight services, my guess is either part of the description has been missed or misunderstood - 'I’ve turned off all checkpoints for the freights as personally I find them distracting, obey the signals!'. for myself starter signals do clear but may be delayed with AI heading the other way.
Honestly have only driven this timetable since release and still absolutely love it
Thanks for the kind comments, I am working on updating the HUD glitches , but at the moment I'm creating HST sound package that's more appropriate for the timetable, it's not easy, but progress is being made.
Also I have a couple of ideas for some more drivable services , but first things first fix glitches and sounds !
The 150s and 365s are just AI fills , so each AI service is the same partern , entry-load-exit, rather than creating different headcodes, just made it easier for creating the AI traffic, to be honest 8 never spotted it , as I was just happy they ran!!
in fairness i only noticed when a 150 reversed out of Newark then the 365 out of Peterborough, took long enough to notice. Would love to see Central Trains 158s at Newark, maybe peak services to Lincoln, same at Peterborough.
There was a Valenta sound pack but that stopped working a while ago.
Eagerly awaiting any updates
having to reverse-engineer the sounds from scratch, a painful process, the idea is that i will be included in the timetable, rather than an additional download.
to be fair the AI knows its a change of direction and should switch the lights!
Making progress with the HST sound package, but it's slow progress
any progress is good progress, will be amazing when it's ready
uploaded ECML v1.4 last night

- BR Class 31, East Coast Mainline: Peterborough to Doncaster, Great Western Express, Midland Main Line: Leicester - Derby & Nottingham, Northern Trans-Pennine: Manchester - Leeds, Tees Valley Line: Darlington – Saltburn-by-the-Sea, West Cornwall Local: Penzance - St Austell & St Ives, West Somerset Railway
i'm not sure why but whenever I try to load a service the game crashes. tried 4L85 doesn't work then i tried a random HST service and no luck. must be something to do with the liveries i'm guessing.
Do you have all the required all the DLC's?, the 47 is from Northern Trans-Pennine: Manchester - Leeds, can't think why it wouldn't spawn, ill do some investigation. As for the livery's , they are contained in game folder, so no external dependency's are required, there was an update yesterday, that might have effected something?
I’m having this same issue. Not sure why but the game crashes when trying to load a service
ok so i have dianosed the issue.
it is to do with when you do not have all the required DLC for the timetable. if you can could you update the requirements to have all the required DLC? thanks.
i have also fixed the issue now.
