In my opinion, this makes the freight cars way too quiet. At 30mph the run sounds are barely audible, it's almost like playing vanilla TS1 from before DTG revamped the run sounds.
thats a game changer thanks a lot !
the sound before was always way to loud and now when i change to external view i dont have to adjust everytime the volume!
Thanks for feedback
Although this mod is quite a few files to tweak. Whenever Ive got time , Im looking to improve my mods. I’ll keep experimenting Acela, introduce certain sfx slightly louder and see where it goes.
Good job !
Thanks this mod is great!
One thing I noticed: When the train passes (cam8) there is a slight crackle sound, noticed this on Cane Creek (Uranium)
Thanks for letting me know. I might have a solution soon.
hi
do i have to remove
!TS2Prototype-Allfreightbasesound.pak and !TS2Prototype-TSWfreight.pak
to have !TS2Prototype-26622Freightv3.pak ?
Yes. You dont need all files. Only whichever version you prefer. The latest one is v3
hey
first of all your sounds are a game changer for real.
here's the thing. i recorded some other sounds from youtube videos but i'm not sure how to go about making them into a pak. if i could get some assistance and maybe use this one as another sound to put with it that'd be great. that's if you have the time. thanks in advance
You looking to make your own pak? If youve got the youtubers permission you can convert them into wav files using VLC media player (its free). Then I personally use the unnoficial editor https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/editor-download-tsw-2-unofficial-editor-v0-2-tutorials.45303/ Just right now Ive made one sound improvement to one of my loco mods. As Ive no idea whats coming with the TSW3 announcement, but thanks and ofcourse I'll help you whenever I can.
hey
thanks for replying. yea i'd love to make a pak and of course share it.
i got the sounds and everything the editor downloaded. it's how to go about doing making it.
if you could help me out a little that'd be great.
thanks for the offer and for your good work
I really like the 3rd version of the mod. It sounds heavy, bassy, flat wheel sounds are blended in really well and it does not sound like I am hauling shopping carts and does not overpower the locomotive sounds.
Good to hear. I agree, Im enjoying this 3rd version.
Also, I just found out it makes a huge difference on arosaline. Idk why the passenger cars were set up as freight cars so it's a gamechanger with this mod.
Does it! Thanks for the info.
Yea, the passenger cars were set up as freight cars which is why you always hear the shopping cart sounds when you apply power. Now it's just pure engine noise and since the bogie freight mod makes the freight more bassy, no more of the shopping cart sounds
Hey Rob, there is an issue I noticed when I played iow after the recent update. Don't know if it's caused by the recent update or not cuz I haven't played iow after I installed this sound mod Whenever there is flange squeal, it basically causes my earbuds to blow up. In other words, it sounds like someone is blowing air really loudly into the mic and hearing that through my earbuds. Idk how to describe it. After I deleted the mod, there were no issues with the sound and doesn't really affect other routes. Is this something you are looking into fixing?
is that my latest version? I might get some time soon, I'll look at it. Sounds like the bass needs lifting a bit.
yes. It is the latest version. The issue doesn't really bother me in other routes but in iow, it causes the really bassy, loud, grindy, stacticky sound in iow. If you have iow and play with the sound mod, you'll know what I mean.
I might get the new iow at some point, but I dont have the current one.
But yea, the bass would need some lifting so it isn't blowing out my headphones
TSWFreightpakv3 - There is too much bass, a solid bass buzz, you can't hear screeching, squeaking at all because of the huge amount of bass. A strong hum.
Ive noticed some occasions too. I'll hold off doing anything until this TSW3 update though.
here's a video using your mod.
Ive put out a revised mod in light of new collision and developer updates. More subtle. Completely new joint sounds, but more volume mixing and less additional bass, to running.
the recent update is well done. nothing is overpowering and I'm able to enjoy the engine sounds more than hearing the freight cars without the mods. i did not notice any bass buzzing or anything.
Good to hear
One suggestion for improvement is that towards the end of the freight consist, there is almost no sound. The front/middle of the consist has audible flatwheel and flange squeal sound but it gets quieter as you move further back.
Hmm weird, I’ll have a look………
It doesn't affect every freight car it seems. I've tested it on german mixed freight and on the 66 in ecw and the sounds are fine. I was playing on hrr with the tanker cars last night and it had the issue I was talking about. I am playing on it now and now it's silent towards the middle and you hear the freight car sounds near the end of the consist when you do a fly by. You have to do a fly by shot to hear the issue I am talking about if you are able to reproduce it. That particular type of freight car could be an issue
Hi, I got a couple of questions:
How do you pack the "core" files into a .pak?
I know how to do the "TS2Prototype" files but packing the "core" files doesn't work.
Because I want to add some better wheel squeaking sounds to the mod.
Or could I just send you the sounds to add them for everyone?

The work you do is incredible. I always found the freight cars too loud. I agree with Acela and will look forward to further improvements once you get the time.
